The Society is delighted to announce the publication of Diana Beal's latest book "A Detailed History of Gowrie Junction"
Dr Beal has traced the European history of the Gowrie Junction area, from
1841 when the first squatters arrived, through the struggle to establish
bona-fide selectors to the trial and tribulations of those selectors to find
products they could successfully produce and sell.
After many rocky starts, they settled on dairying, and this industry drove
development in the district for many decades. In recent decades the
character of the district has changed. The many dairy factories have gone,
as have the wool scour and the several hotels and churches. The area is now
virtually a suburb of Toowoomba.
The book may be purchased from the Society for $20. {Postage and package an extra $3]
