New Publication - Black Gully 1840 - 1914 The Manufacturing Centre of Toowoomba

Cover photograph showing the kilns of  the Old Maltings in Mort Street

Looking at the pleasant parkland that it is for the most part now, it is hard to realise that there was a thriving manufacturing area in Black Gully in Toowoomba.
Diana Beal has been investigating the people associated with this interesting part of our local history, their successes, failures and the development of industry in this mostly forgotten era.
This was an area once located close to, without being within Toowoomba but now well within the City area. The book names those businesses and then later developers of the area into suburban blocks.
Includes index, illustrations and photographs.
You can read further information HERE
The A4 sized book is available now from the Society.

$15 + $5 package and postage.
